New pick, pack and despatch lines have been installed at both of Spicers Manchester and Glasgow distribution sites as part of their overall investment in the SPOT group network.
With an increasing volume of third party delivery demand from the Dealer marketplace, the sites have both been equipped with full mechanised packing lines running through the core of each site, allowing the despatch team to complete parcel packing more efficiently and more securely to ensure safe arrival at their final destination.
With the new installations complete, the Manchester and Glasgow sites now handle almost 100% of the parcels destined for direct delivery to end user premises. Both sites have been up and running for some months now with a final move of traffic previously handled by the other Spicers local sites being migrated across back in June.
“The teams are now equipped to deliver the best presentation and packing of goods for safe transit.”
SPOT Group Operations Director Rick Jones, commented, “At our Manchester and Glasgow sites, the hubs of our consumer delivery operations, the teams are now equipped to deliver the best presentation and packing of goods for safe transit. Good parcel presentation is important to maintain confidence in a Resellers brand and service. Our customers put their trust in us to manage their parcels and deliver the highest quality experience to their end user customers.”In the pipeline
Other investments across the wholesalers network underway at present are the vast extension of storage capacity at the bulk distribution sites of Smethwick and Greenwich which are anticipated to be completed by the autumn of 2016.
