Following news of Spicers’ recent major investments and structural shake up, the wholesale giant recently unveiled their latest service offering through a series of regional road shows, officially launching the Spicers Alliance.
In a rapidly evolving market, yesterday’s strategies are no longer strong enough to stand up against the challenges that the office products industry now faces. Economical shifts such as Brexit and the rise of new market entrants such as Amazon Business mean the whole sector needs to remove duplication, reduce costs, and meet the increasing demands from end users for a wider product range. All of this has left many dealers wondering how they can continue to compete. Spicers recognise this as a challenge, but also as an opportunity for those forward-thinking dealers that are ready to embrace the change and take steps to reshape their business model. The Alliance programme focuses on strategies to reduce a dealer’s fixed operating costs, with a typical operational costs saving of 20% being realised.
The road shows comprised of three events held regionally in the North, South and the Midlands, affording dealers the opportunity to attend an event local to them. The initial event, held at Spicers’ Greenwich RDC on Tuesday 8th November, received such an overwhelming response the day was split into two sessions to cater for everyone.
The presentation, led by SPOT Group’s board of Directors, covered an update on the marketplace and future projections as well as introducing the Alliance proposition. The programme challenges dealers to future proof their businesses, and provides a number of solutions to help them reduce costs and increase profits, whilst opening up exciting new opportunities with specialist sales support to move into new product sectors, such as Print, MPS, Workwear, Workplace, and Document Management. The whole programme is underpinned with enhanced marketing support that is proven to connect with end-users. Fundamentally the Alliance programme is designed to ensure that dealers’ businesses are strong enough to stand the test of time.
Group CEO Jeff Whiteway spoke of the events:
“These roadshows were the perfect way to launch our latest service offering that will really drive our customers’ sales and grow their profitability. It was great to see such an impressive take up and just goes to show how many of our dealers are keen to explore ways to take action and adapt for the future.”
The Spicers Alliance focuses on nine key areas to help a dealer grow their business and protect themselves against future threats. With the Alliance, dealers have the benefit of Spicers as their solely dedicated supply chain partner as well as access to their extensive stock selection, helping increase profitability and remove unwanted operational costs and distractions. The Alliance Proposition
The presentation preceded a tour of each warehouse, showcasing the recent refurbishments that will support dealers’ capability to stock and deliver from multiple distribution centres. Guests then enjoyed a networking lunch with the opportunity to explore the elements of Alliance further with an exhibition provided by leaders of each key part.
Kevin Barnes, Sales Director at Knights Business Supplies spoke of the day:
“This is a must attend event, the most exciting thing to happen at Spicers for a decade! Every dealer must make the effort to attend, you really shouldn’t miss this!”
Due to the high demand of places at the launch events, Spicers will be holding a further event in Greenwich early next year.
