Continuity and great service is the key to 25 year partnership
With a trading relationship of almost 25 years between Manchester based Zenoffice and Spicers, trust, diversification and reliability have been crucial for this longstanding relationship. Zenoffice Commercial Director Bruce Davie shares his experiences of Spicers and why they continue to choose Spicers as their main supplier.

With choice in the market for distributor and wholesalers we asked Bruce why Zenoffice continue to choose Spicers as their main partner. He commented; “We have just signed a new long term commitment to Spicers; for our business and our customers continuity is key. The staff based in Heywood are excellent and understand our needs, plus having so much stock on our doorstep helps immensely.
In addition we are very happy with the current Spicers leadership and can see a clear road map for future plans, which means exciting times ahead.”

In working with Spicers for such a long period we wondered which Spicers services have had the greatest impact on the Zenoffice solution. Bruce continued;
“We are strong believers in having the lowest cost to serve at the maximum level of service to our customers, so streamlined logistics is very important. We choose the pick, wrap and label solution from Spicers which works very well to minimise how much picking is required once the goods arrive at our premises.
We know that many dealers still cherry pick between wholesalers but we believe any individual product cost saving is largely lost in more complicated order fulfilment, having a wholesaler with the ability to provide the lion’s share of the products we sell help us keep double handling costs to a minimum.”

Bruce also explained the success of some of the additional services that the Spicers Brilliant Partner Programme has brought.
“The Cartridge Cashback solution has worked extremely well for us. We have a very fast growing Managed Print Service division so frequently come across customers wanting to offload unused cartridges. Turning this into cash is an excellent service. Shredding also works well and we have plans to try and roll this out to a wider group of our customers.”

Whilst the provision of great service is integral to Spicers we asked what it was that made Zenoffice continue to support Spicers when there were service issues. Bruce commented;
“25 years of largely excellent service can’t be written off because a rough spell. Loyalty still counts in today’s market; we look for it from our customers.
The great news is that any issues have been rectified and are well behind us; Spicers service today is the best it has been for probably 3 years so we are very happy we stuck around. People also remember that you stood by them in tough times which count for something.”
